Veteran Benefit Information
As a veteran or the widow or widower of a veteran, you may be eligible for financial assistance for assisted living through the Aid & Attendance benefit provided by the VA. The information above is provided to help you with the application process.
Shepherd of the Valley will provide the letter regarding your assisted living, but you must make the application and follow- up with the VA on the progress of your claim. Shepherd of the Valley staff is not legally able to do this for you.
Also, please note that in providing this information, Shepherd of the Valley does not guarantee you will qualify for the Aid & Attendance benefit. Remember, it is up to you and/or your family to make the initial inquiry and to follow-up with the VA on the progress of your claim.
To qualify you must be a wartime veteran serving at least 90 days of service with at least one day served during wartime, either stateside or overseas.
*If you are the widow/widower of a veteran, you may also qualify. Some stipulations apply.
When you call the VA:
- Tell them you need the Aid & Attendance paperwork.
- Take the medical paperwork to your physician.
- Complete the financial paperwork.
