The Virtual Dementia Tour

The Virtual Dementia Tour simulates the effects of aging and  dementia to give families, caregivers and the general public an opportunity to walk in their shoes.

Quality care for people dealing with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias begins with caregivers who are sensitive, patient and kind.

The Virtual Dementia Tour is a scientifically proven method that builds sensitivity and awareness in individuals caring for those with dementia. By
temporarily altering participants’ physical and sensory abilities, this
evidence-based program simulates changes associated with cognitive
decline. Geriatric specialist P.K. Beville created the VDT and her program offers provides practical ways to create an environment that supports the disease.

During a Virtual Dementia Tour experience, certified trainers guide
participants through the tour to experience the physical and mental challenges facing those with dementia.

Shepherd of the Valley is excited to offer the Virtual Dementia Tour to our community. Participants are led through a 30-minute experience in 10-minute intervals and only need to be present for their appointment time.
